Tiny Toes Nursery – Southampton 

Full time – 32-45 hours per week

Reports to:   Room Lead

Main responsibilities:         

✨To implement and promote all Tiny Toes policies and staff rules

✨To ensure the ethos, implementation and legal requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage are met

✨To display a good understanding of children’s development, their needs and the provision of positive play

✨To care for and supervise the group of children assigned to them as a Key Person

✨To carry out the role and duties of a Key Person and to be a buddy to another Key Group

✨To provide a warm and caring environment for babies and children at the nursery

✨To ensure that the nursery is a safe environment for children, visitors and staff.

✨To form positive relationships with children and their families, to treat them as individuals and with respect at all times.

✨To create an interesting and stimulating learning environment for children in order to develop their skills

✨To provide support for any children with special needs and to promote their welfare and development

✨To ensure an adherence to the Health and Safety Policy relating to the provision of play

✨To ensure that all information pertaining to Tiny Toes, its operation, children, staff and parents remain confidential

✨To be flexible and adaptable, to assist in all areas of nursery work and to provide support for other members of staff

✨To be aware of the correct procedure in the event of an emergency situation

✨To be aware of the practice of providing equal opportunities for children and their families

✨To be aware of safeguarding requirements for children, visitors, staff and themselves

✨To attend staff meetings and training courses as directed by senior managers

✨To assist in providing a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors at all times.

✨To assist in delivering an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress.

✨To help ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times.

✨To ensure positive management of children’s behaviour

✨To support all co-ordinators e.g. SENDCo and equal opportunities in their duties

✨To support senior members of staff to ensure appropriate Safeguarding Children procedures are active part of best practice

✨To understand and work to nursery policies and procedures including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies.

✨To share information with relevant Senior staff who are responsible for Safeguarding, Health and Safety and SENDCo, without delay.

✨To take part in planning activities which ensure each child is working towards the early learning outcomes.

✨To track Key group children to promote early identification of needs and concerns

✨To undertake tasks delegated by the Room Lead / Deputy Nursery Manager / Nursery Manager.

✨To be flexible and adaptable, to assist in all areas of nursery work and to provide support for other members of staff

✨To be able to think and act quickly in a stressful or emergency situation, and to be aware of the correct procedure

✨To go about your duties with a positive and enthusiastic attitude – be organised, efficient, confident, hardworking and conscientious.

✨To carry out housekeeping duties as appropriate

✨To work as part of that team and contribute positively to the staff team. To provide a role model of good practice to other members of staff.

✨To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the nursery aims and objectives.

✨To be flexible and adaptable, to assist in all areas of nursery work and to provide support for other members of staff
